About The Studio

 

Pilates Mat is a series of simple yet challenging exercises designed to align, open, and strengthen the body with an emphasis on core support and use of breath.

Beginning: This class is designed for people new to the Pilates Method as well as those looking to slow down and review some of the basics of their matwork technique. Focus is on establishing the biomechanical foundations to work safely and effectively within the technique, as well as familiarizing students with the choreography of some of the simpler Pilates exercises.

Beginning/Intermediate: Adding a little more flow and challenge to the work, the intermediate class assumes the student has a knowledge of Pilates fundamentals and an understanding of how to modify exercises for her own specific physical challenges. Attention is given to developing clear execution of the exercises of the foundational Pilates mat routine so the student can build a repertory to use at home.

Intermediate and Intermediate/Advanced: Begins with the same assumptions as Intermediate class, with the introduction of more advanced variations and a focus of building more strength, coordination and accuracy within the work. Whole-body movement is emphasized and refined.

Open Level: This class is designed for Pilates students of all levels. Basic and intermediate Pilates exercises are woven into the work with time taken to address common trouble spots and biomechanical challenges in safe and effective ways. While some familiarity
